2017 Election Candidate Registry

In accordance with the changes to the Local Authorities Election Act, the City of Camrose will be maintaining a registry of individuals that intend to be candidates for Municipal Elections. If someone wishes to run for City Council and intends to begin raising funds and receive donations for that purpose, they must be registered with the Municipality under Section 147.21 of the Act, before accepting any campaign contributions.
The future candidate must disclose his/her intent to run by providing;
  1. full name and address,
  2. location(s) where records of the candidate are maintained, and where any communications may be addressed,
  3. names and addresses of financial institutions to be used for the purpose of depositing campaign contributions,
  4. names of signing authorities for all of the institutions listed.
Changes to any of the information within the registry must be reported to the Municipality within 48 hours of the changes taking effect in writing by mail, fax or email. Please be advised that the information contained within the registry is public.

Candidate Registry

This registry is not a listing of Candidates for the Municipal General Election. It is a registry of individuals who have expressed an interest in becoming candidates and wish to accept campaign contributions in support of their upcoming campaign. Individuals who file their “Notice of Intent to become Candidates” are permitted to begin accepting campaign contributions for their campaign. Anyone intending to self-fund their campaign is not required to file a notice of intent, in accordance with the Local Authorities Election Act, section 147.21. *Note the City of Camrose strongly encourages candidates who are intending to self-fund to consider completing the “Notice of Intent to Become a Candidate” so that in the event that someone voluntarily wishes to contribute to your campaign you are able to accept and be compliant with the legislation.

If you intend to run as a Candidate and will be accepting campaign contributions, you will need to file a notice of intent before you can begin accepting contributions. Be advised that upon registering a “Notice of Intent to Become a Candidate” you will be required to file financial disclosure documents within 6 months following the Election, whether you file Nomination Papers or ultimately decide not to run for office.

The individuals listed below have filed their “Notice of Intent to Become a Candidate”. Following Nomination Day (September 18, 2017) a list of official Candidates will be published indicating which office the individual is seeking.
