56 Street / 52 Avenue Reconstruction Project Profile56 Street from 52 Avenue to 54 Avenue, and 52 Avenue, between 54 street and 56 street was completed this summer, including Curbs, Sidewalks, Boulevards and Pavement.
Project DescriptionThe 2001 City of Camrose Capital Budget included roadway reconstruction of 56th Street between 52 and 54 Avenues and 52 Avenue between 54 and 56 Streets. This project replaced all curb, sidewalk, paving and boulevards, bringing the road to "Like New" condition. Water and sewer service replacements were completed in 2000. One "freeze / thaw" cycle has now occurred to allow any settlements to occur. The City hosted an open house last year for residents on 56 Street to discuss the project schedule and get input from property owners about existing problems such as drainage, access issues during construction etc. 56th Street was closed to vehicle traffic on a block by block basis during construction. Fortunately lanes provide an alternative access in these areas. 53rd Avenue remained open to traffic throughout the 2001 project. Budget and Funding – The 2001 roadway local improvement project is estimated to cost $414,000.00 with approximately 1/3 paid by the adjacent property owners and 2/3 paid by the City at large. Schedule – The concrete replacement was completed in August 2001. Paving was in October. For More Information Contact the Engineering Department at 672-4428. |
