Project Background:
The Vallyview development is a multi staged residential subdivision development being constructed in the south of Camrose Drive and Parkview Drive.

Project Profile:
In the fall of 2003 the installation of deep underground utilities was initiated (2004 component). Deep utilities are installed at least one year in advance of any surface improvements such as paving and sidewalks. The majority of trench settlement occurs within the first year of installation. By delaying surface improvements we minimize concrete cracking and "dips" in road surface resulting in a higher quality product for the property purchaser.
The 2005 Phase 1 component of this project involves surface improvements and includes curb, gutter, sidewalk and paving. Shallow utilities and street lights will follow.
The 2005 Phase 2 component of this project involves surface improvements and includes curb, gutter and paving. Shallow utilties and street lights will follow in 2006.
Engineering:
The design and site supervision of this project is being conducted by the City Engineering Department and Bel-MK Engineering Ltd.
Contractors:
Border Paving has been awarded the Phase 1 and 2 surface work contracts. Joe's Concrete has been awarded the contract for the sidewalks in Phase 1 and Proform Concrete has been awarded the contract for the curb and gutter in Phase 1 and 2.
Budget and Funding:
The budget to complete Phase 1 of development is $800,000 with funding from the City Land Fund Reserve / Lot sales.
The budget to complete Phase 2 of development is $1,500,000 with funding from the City Land Fund Reserve / Lot sales.
Schedule:

- Paving and concrete work for Phase 1 was completed by the end of August.
- Paving and concrete curb and gutter work for Phase 2 was completed by mid October.
- Shallow utilities for Phase 1 were completed by the end of September.
- Shallow utilities for Phase 2 are scheduled for the spring of 2006.
- Installation of pedestrian activated traffic control devices completed by the end of December.
