Intersection Upgrades - White Topping 68 Street and 48 Avenue 39 Street and 48 Avenue
Last Modified Jun 30, 08
Project Profile:
The left turn lanes at these intersections on 48th Avenue are showing signs of distress due to larger than
normal truck turning movement. The City of Camrose Engineering Services Department is suggesting that a "white topping"
concrete inlay be installed.
The City of Camrose has used the "white topping" construction technique at other locations on 48th Avenue
with good success, most notably the left turn lane off 48th Avenue at 51 Street (Co-op Hill). For more
information about this, please read this
article
on the Cement Association of Canada website.
The construction involves the removal of approximately 100mm of the asphalt pavement and the installation of a
modified concrete mix specifically designed for this purpose.
