Online Electrical Permit (Word)

An electrical permit is required to install, alter or add to an electrical system.

No person shall perform electrical work without first obtaining an electrical permit.

A supply of electricity shall not be provided to an electrical system unless a permit issued in respect of the installation is presented to the supplier.

Note: An electrical permit is not required for the replacement of electrical equipment with units of a similar type if the replacement is made for the purpose of maintaining the system and does not modify the ratings or characteristics of the electrical installation. (This generally only applies the electrical work performed in replacing fuses, receptacles, switches and utilization equipment with proper respective units of a similar type where the replacement can be made without other modifications being required to the electrical installation).

An electrical permit is a legal document for the purpose of:

  1. Establishing the authority and responsibility of the person undertaking the electrical work,
  2. Establishing the ownership and location of the electrical installation, and
  3. Establishing the type of installation and wiring method being used.

Electrical permit applications must clearly include a mailing address complete with postal code and a phone number in which the applicant/owner can be reached. The application also requires a correct civic address or legal description of the project location.

The person undertaking the electrical work is responsible to call our office to request inspection at the appropriate time.

To avoid cancellation of a permit the Permit Holder must adhere to the terms of a permit.
