RedesignationEach lot in the City of Camrose has a specific land use designation based on the 30 land use districts in Land Use Bylaw #2567/07. The purpose of a land use district is to regulate the type of development permitted on each lot. By regulating the type of development based on land use districts the Development Officer can ensure a well-organized City by separating incompatible land uses. Under section 5.02 of Land Use Bylaw #2567/07 anyone can request that a lot be redesignated. Applications for redesignation are available in the Planning and Development Department, 5204 - 50 Avenue. All applications for redesignation must include:
After a completed redesignation application has been received a bylaw amending Land Use Bylaw 2567/07 is drawn up; then the bylaw outlining the designation change is presented to City Council for first reading. Once the bylaw has been given first reading if approved it is advertised in a local newspaper for two weeks and a letter is sent to the adjacent property owners explaining the proposed redistricting. A public hearing is held before second reading of the bylaw to give the public a chance to comment on the proposal. If City Council supports the application after the public hearing it will receive 2nd and 3rd reading. The redesignation becomes effective on the date it is passed in third and final reading.
