Compost With the City of Camrose
City of Camrose residents can take grass and leaf clippings to the drop off at Centra-Cam
recycling depot free of charge. The address is 4402-51 Avenue, Camrose. These compost materials are then transported to the compost pile at the Camrose Regional Sanitary Landfill.
The finished compost will be used to recover the landfill site.
Does composting really make a difference?
YES! The amount of household garbage going to the landfill can be reduced by 25% just by composting organic material such as grass, leaves, and kitchen scraps. That is a BIG DEAL!

If we stop putting compost materials in the garbage, our landfill will last longer. We can use the organic materials to make rich soil instead of wasting them. |

Nobody wants a landfill in their back yard. Why do you think that is? (Try to think of at least five reasons)
But, when our landfill is full we must find space for a new landfill.

GOOD NEWS!
The Camrose Regional Sanitary Landfill began operation in 1983 and serves 20,532 people as of the year 2000. At that time the expected life span of the landfill was 35 years. Because of advances in landfill techniques, recycling, and reduction of waste, the landfill is now expected to last an added fifteen or more years.
