Computers
- Thousands of computers will become obsolete by 2005. Most electronics have a life of less than 4 years.
- Estimates of 67 million kilograms of electronic wastes will be produced in Canada in 2005.
- Simply trashing all these computers would
- Add a huge amount of waste to the landfills.
- Compromise water and air quality because computer components contain lead, mercury, cadmium, and a number of other persistent, and toxic compounds.
- The average computer has over 4 pounds of lead.
- There are over 16 heavy metals on a circuit board.
- Yet there are currently no laws banning e-waste from going into landfills.
- Effective February 1, 2005 $5 to $45 paid on new purchases of televisions, computers, and other electronics will be put towards offsetting costs of recycling.

Even old computers can be recycled at Centra Cam Recycling Depot!
