Save paper and recycle it!
Did you know that almost half of all garbage that goes to the landfill is
paper and paper products? What would happen if everybody started recycling paper?Cardboard and paper are made from trees. It takes many years to grow a tree. Then it takes much work, time, and energy to make paper and cardboard from trees. So, each time you save paper and use paper wisely, you will actually be saving trees.
Think of all the things a tree gives you! Can you name at least ten? Don't forget to think about trees as homes for birds and animals. Trees are fun to climb too. You can think of lots more! Recycle paper and save the trees.
What Happens to Paper Products at Centra Cam Recycling Depot?
Much paper is brought to the Centra Cam Recycling Depot in Camrose.
Your family can do it too!Different types of paper go into these bins.

What to do!
- Make sure the paper is clean and dry.
- If possible, bundle or bag each type of paper separately.
- Then drop the paper into the correct bin at the depot.

What Next!
- The paper you take to the recycling depot will not be wasted. It will be used to make new products.
- Once the paper has been sorted it is sent by truck to other places in Alberta where the paper will be used to make new paper products. The old newspaper will become household insulation.
- Old books can be taken to the recycling depot too! The book covers are removed. The pages of the books will be recycled.
- Old phone books can be recycled too. They are taken to Ardrossan, Alberta and made into animal bedding.
