A permit is required to install, alter, or make an addition to any electrical installation except for the replacement of fuses, receptacles, switches, light fixtures and utilization equipment such as electric motors with proper units of a similar type where the replacement can be made without other modifications to the electrical installation being repaired. A homeowner may obtain a permit to personally carry out work within a residential premise that is owned and occupied by that person.
